I dont see any line number. How do the pasangers know what line is it? On the map there are plenty of tram lines in the city.
There were engineering works on the line along Moharram Bek street so the section between Moharram Bek depot and el Nouzha was operaterd as a shuttle - hence no route number. In any case, many Medina Line trams do not have a route number displayed.
Also, you have to look very carefully sometimes, as the line number is only in Arabic script or, like on the Ramleh interurban lines, there are different colour codes to show the route. Tourists don't often use the trams, just local people who know where they are going.
Not to mention half of the Duewags had the numbers written in chalk on the front
and they are slowy running out of route number signs - I got three as souvenirs and the Danish had at least another 2 (all received as gifts of course, we didn't want to risk hands being chopped off...).
