this bus looks very sad....
I agree, with this front (especcially the fornt LADA lights) it seems to be sad. However, I love this first series of Ikarus 415, it`s very unique. Unfortunately there are only 7 left with this kind of front, and they`ll probably be scrapped next summer, when 172 new Volvo 9900 and MAN Lion`s City come to Budapest... :( Luckily, there`s one (CKC-947) which is being restaurated now, and that will be one of BKV`s "nostalgic buses".
can you tell me, if after 2014 it would be possible to buy from BKV Ikarus which are working? Now they sell only "trash" which is not working any more or working but in very poor condition. after opening m4 also a large number of ik 280 will probably be not needed any more... How expensive would a 280 or 260 from BKV be? About 2000euro? 4000euro?
Of course it is possible! I suggest you to check the BKV homepage`s "things to sold" page under this link: http://bkv.hu/hu/felajanljuk_megvetelre And if they have buses to sell, they`ll upload them under "Autóbuszok" title. There you`ll find the contats of the competent people and lots of informations about the buses, and even you can agree on a date when you`ll be able to check the buses, especially the one that you want to buy. I don`t know the exact price, but a working Ikarus 260 is about 400.000 HUF (which is now about 1.300 Euros), the 280 is more expensive I think.
I don`t know if buying ikarus from BKV is a good idea but thanks for info.
I know, a lots of these buses are in very poor condition, but there are some nicely renovated car which will also be scrapped because they are old. BKK wants to make the statistics better, that`s why they obligated BKV to scrap all the Ikarus 260.00s last year (the ones with HLN-JLA-JGD plates) although they were completely rebuilt in 2004 and 2005. That is really sad, that here, it isn`t the main point if a bus is in good or bad condition, but the year of manufacturing is.
Anyway, it`s possible to buy a really good Ikarus from BKV, but you have to be careful and check everything on the bus before it.
can you tell me, if there is a possibility to buy? i want to have one but in good condition and old engine (no D10).
From this year, there`s no bus can be let out to traffic with Euro 0 (D2156) engine, so it won`t be easy. But maybe they`ll sell some buses with old engines. Of course, if I get information about Ikaruses to sell, I`ll tell you inmediately.
In this year (around march and april) there will be a lot of buses take back from traffic, and I`m sure some of them will be in pretty good condition.
Raba D2156 you can buy from poland on scrapyard. It will cost about 500 eur max. Swapping D10 to D2156 is about four working days (maximum) - you can do this in two days if you have skills. For example - this bus is scrapped and has D2156 on board: http://phototrans.net/14,666966,0.html
