Interesting, I was in Szombathely during summer vacations 10 years ago but the only thing I remember now is ikarus 266 I didn't know about trams over there
Did you took some photos then? Only this tram was in Sombathely, 10 years ago, at the Éhen Gyula tér, next to the Railway Station in the middle of the bus terminal;)

There were 5 of them, built in 1927 as a normal gauge petrol railcar (so not an electric tram) for night tram services in Budapest. In 1931 these railcars were replaced with buses and had been stored. Some of them had been used by the BHÉV (Budapest Local Railways) between 1938-1939 for off-peak services. They had been converted into trailers (still normal gauge) between 1940-1943 and got their next duty in Budapest tram network. Finally they had been rebuilt as meter gauge tramcars for Szombathely in 1951. Two of them had been scrapped in 1963 due to an accident. The other three remained in service until the closing of the whole system in 1974. This car had been restored and exposed.
