13 május 2004 - Szentendre (HU) –BKV Public Transport Museum. There are two nice Ikarus buses in this museum, but they are unfortunately impossible to photograph, being closed in by other vehicles. This Ikarus 180 does come out for special events occasionally, though.

7 október 2008 - Oradea, Romania – Strada Republicii . One for the Ikarus fans and also a TWB debut. A very smart Ikarus 256 Turbo Sport (that’s what it says on the front!) runs past the railway station on the 1455 scheduled service from Oradea to Diosig. This line runs four times daily. Andy Trans is a small local bus and coach operator.

18 március 2008 - Praha – Stresovice transport museum. One for the Ikarus fans, not seen for a little while. This Type 280 lives in the museum collection and is sometimes used for special trips. Like all Praha museum vehicles (and all their normal buses and trams, too) it is kept in immaculate condition.

26 augusztus 2008 - Bucuresti, Romania – depot/zajezdnia Bujoreni. RATB mostly favoured locally-built Rocar trolleybuses for its large network, until the company went bust in 2003. They also operate a large batch of Ikarus 415T like these, now used mainly by the driving school.

szeptember 2008 - Ploiesti, Romania – Halu Rosu. Ikarus day! A 280 belonging to RATP, the city operator, picks up at the trolleybus terminal for a trip on Line 44. The trams follow a different route to Gara de Sud, but you must change half way, so this bus is quicker.

28 május 2006 - Jarva-Jaani, Eesti/Estonia – Autode Muuseum/Transport Museum. This Ikarus had just arrived at Jarva-Jaani when I visited and was fully operational. The museum’s Tallinn Tatra T4SU tram, also acquired in 2006, can be seen peeping into the picture. There are currently over 250 separate exhibits at this fascinating place, including 30 buses, although conditions for proper storage and display are virtually nonexistent.

In Estonian language, trolleybus = ‘troll’ (in English, a kind of monster), so here is a selection of Hungarian monsters for our Ikarus fans. Five are in service in Tallinn, although during my visit one was hiding - as any troll would do.

This bus is unlikely to run again unless a (rich) sponsor is found, but would be fantastic if restored to working order. At the present time, it seems that only fire engines and military vehicles in the collection stand a real chance of being restored – more money and more volunteers are badly needed.

28 május 2006 - Jarva-Jaani, Eesti/Estonia - Autode Muuseum/Open Air Transport Museum. For the Ikarus fans. This very stylish bus was operated by Tallinna Autobussipargist and came to the museum site in 2004, where there is a large and extremely varied collection of vehicles, including several buses and a Tallinn Tatra T4 tram. Open-air storage in the harsh Estonian climate is a big problem, though.
